About the Breed
Temperament The Victorian Boston Bulldog is a strong compact dog that is very loyal, outgoing, alert, and willing to please his/her owners. Victorian Boston Bulldogs are easy to train but they can be tenacious. Having good rules and boundaries set in place at and early age is a must. Without proper training, leadership and early socialization they may become withdrawn or develop behavioral issues. They are social dogs and do great with other family pets but shouldn't be left to make the rules. These dogs are full of personality, playful, agile, very athletic and have a willingness to try anything.
Height and Weight Height: 14" to 17" at the withers Weight: 25lbs to 40lbs
Health The Victorian Boston Bulldog is a healthy robust breed with few observed health issues. They do not suffer from breathing problems, however as with many bull breeds attention should be paid to the possibility of cherry eye, knee, or hip issues. To date there has not been any noticeable trends in health defects within the Victorian Boston Bulldog breed.
Living Conditions Victorian Boston Bulldogs can live happily in rural and urban conditions. They are respectful in the house but should have designated objects for chewing and recreation
They can be sensitive to extreme weather conditions.
Exercise This breed needs daily exercise in the form of a good long walk, or free play in a fenced yard. They also excel in dog sports such as fly ball, agility, obedience training, weight pull, hiking and most love to swim.
Life Expectancy 10 to 15 years with good nutrition.
Breeding, Litter sizes The Victorian Boston Bulldog has an on average 6 - 8 litter. They are free breeders and free whelpers.
Grooming The coat is short and fine but moderately harsh, this makes them a medium shedder. Bath and brush when necessary, trim nails.
