Foundation Dogs

Alpha Canis' Maple
Because this breed is a recreation of the Boston Bulldog of the Victorian era and being that the gene pool is still relatively small even among its sister breed the Olde Boston Bulldog, foundation dogs are necessary to keep the gene pool diverse and to further develop the breed. They can be a makeup of several bull and terrier breeds as defined by this breed club.
They may be used with established Victorian Boston Bull lines or may found an entirely new line,. They are permitted to show along with our established lines in order to encourage proper type.
Claiming or implying these dogs to be of generational Victorian Boston Bulldog lineage without identifying them as a Foundation dog is not supported by the Victorian Boston Bulldog Club.
For those considering adding a Victorian Boston Bulldog to their family please do your research on your breeder of choice. Ensure that they have a structured breeding program with definitive goals and good ethics. Help protect our breed from backyard breeding and those that are looking to produce “designer dogs” be aware of those selling puppies who may just have a cross bred litter looking to profit by calling them Victorian Boston Bulldogs. Please see our Breeder listings or join our Message board to interact with breeders who are constructive members of the Victorian Boston Bulldog community.
